BRISBANE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) plans to shut its 98,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Mailiao in the second half of June, a company source said on Friday.

The acetone cyanohydrin-based MMA plant will be shut for more than one week for maintenance, the source said.

MMA is used in the production of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), artificial marble, cast sheets and acrylic resins for coatings and emulsions.
