CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazilian petrochemical producer Braskem said on Monday that it will start producing renewable low density polyethylene (LDPE) by January of 2014 at its petrochemical complex in Triunfo, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Production of the new resin should reach 30,000 tonnes/year, it said.

Braskem will produce the LDPE from ethylene made from sugarcane-based ethanol.

Braskem has been producing renewable high density PE (HDPE) and renewable linear low density PE (LLDPE) on an industrial scale since September 2010.
