SAO PAOLO (ICIS)--In the first quarter of 2013, the productivity of the transformed plastic products sector grew by 1%, said Jose Ricardo Roriz Coelho, president of Abiplast, the Brazilian association of the plastic industry, on the sidelines of the Feiplastic 2013 exhibition on Monday.

The productivity index is compiled as the ratio between the value of industrial production of plastic transformers and the number of people employed in the sector.

The base value of 100 was assigned to January of 2011.

The growth of the index responds to the sector’s increase in physical production, and was not higher because of positive gains in employment, Abiplast said.

Feiplastic 2013 continues through Friday.
