GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--SK Global Chemical (SKGC) plans to start commercial production at its new 50,000 tonne/year ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) plant in Ningbo, China, in September or October next year, a company source said on Tuesday.

EPDM accounts for 11% of the global synthetic rubber capacity and China is the fastest growing market for this product, the source said at the sidelines of Chinaplas.

China’s current EPDM demand is estimated at 200,000 tonnes/year, the source said.

Chinaplas, Asia’s largest plastics raw material and machinery exhibition, runs on 20-23 May.
