SAO PAULO (ICIS)--A new high-performance printing method developed by DuPont should provide greater speed and quality to Brazil’s burgeoning flexible packaging market, a manager with the global chemical producer said on Wednesday.

DuPont’s Cyrel performance plates are specially designed to provide high quality during high-speed printing, said Rodrigo Yamaguchi, packaging graphics sales manager for the company’s Brazil operations. He spoke on the sidelines of the 2013 Feiplastic convention.

Cyrel plates use a technology that polymerises the printing. It has low dot gain and excellent solid ink density, Yamaguchi said, and it can be used to print on a variety of papers and plastics.
“You can print everything from corrugated boxes to flexible packaging regardless of substance – polyethylene [PE], you name it,” he said.

Global demand for high-quality flexible packaging continues to grow, and the market in Brazil is no exception, he said. Demand for high-quality printing solutions has grown hand in hand, he added.

“Every brand owner cares about their quality, and they demand that they look the same regardless of where it’s being displayed,” Yamaguchi said.

Used polymerised plates can be recycled under a DuPont program where the company will reuse the polymers in other products, he said.

“We’re not landfilling or incinerating plates,” Yamaguchi said.

Feiplastic continues through Friday.
