SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Tuntex Petrochemical on 23 May restarted its 440,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit at Tainan following a turnaround, a company source said on Friday.
The planned maintenance shutdown began on 13 May, the source said.
“We are gradually lifting the operating rate, but will keep a reduced rate of around 70% in June because of poor margins,” the source said.
Tuntex typically conducts two planned shutdowns at the unit every year – one in May for a minor turnaround and another at the end of each year for a month-long maintenance.
