SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong-based Befar Binyang Petrochemical is planning to restart bitumen production around 26 May after completing maintenance at its crude distillation unit (CDU), a source from the company said on Friday.
The company will restart its 1.5m tonne/year CDU to produce bitumen, and its daily bitumen production may reach about 1,600 tonnes, the source said.
With the restart of production, the daily bitumen supply in the Shandong market will increase by 16% to about 11,400 tonnes, according to the source.
Shandong Befar Binyang Petrochemical, located at Binyang in Shandong, is a specialised road bitumen producer controlled by Shandong Befar Group.
It operates a separate CDU with a capacity of 1m tonnes/year, and it also operates a 1m tonne/year coker and a 600,000 tonne/year hydrotreating unit.
