SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) is currently operating both its paraxylene (PX) units at full capacity, a company source said on Friday.
The 270,000 tonne/year No 1 PX unit and the 580,000 tonne/year No 2 PX unit have been operating at 100% capacity since the start of the week of 20 May, the source said.
“We have already achieved on-spec production at both PX units,” the source added.
On the benzene front, the No 1 aromatics unit has achieved full output, but the No 2 aromatics unit has yet to reach its full capacity, another company source said, without specifying the reason of the reduced run rate.
The No 1 aromatics unit can produce 130,000 tonnes/year of benzene, while the No 2 aromatics plant has a nameplate capacity of 470,000 tonnes/year of benzene.
The company recently restarted both its No 1 and No 2 aromatics facility in the previous week.
