SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Alpha Jiangyin Bitumen is planning to resume bitumen production on 25 May after completing maintenance at its crude distillation unit (CDU), a company source said on Friday.
The refiner’s 1.2m tonne/year CDU, which can produce 700,000 tonnes/year of bitumen, was shut in early May for turnaround.
The company’s bitumen output is expected to reach around 2,000 tonnes/day after its plant resumes normal production. This will boost the daily bitumen supply in Yangtze River Delta (YRD) by 22.7% to around 11,000 tonnes/day.
However, China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) Oil & Gas (Taizhou) will start maintenance at its 1.5m tonne/yaer CDU on 27 May. Hence, the overall bitumen supply in east China will not be changed significantly.
Alpha Jiangyin Bitumen, located at Jiangyin in Jiangsu province, is a third-party processing producer for PetroChina Fuel Oil. It mainly produces heavy traffic bitumen.
