MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical plans to shut its 20,000 tonne/year methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant in Mizushima from early June for an annual turnaround, a company source said on Tuesday.
The plant will undergo annual maintenance from 8 June to 12 July, the source said.
In 2012, Mitsubishi Chemical shut its MIBK plant for maintenance between 13 June and 15 July.
Mitsubishi Chemical is one of the three MIBK makers in Japan.
The other producers are Mitsui Chemicals, whose plant has a nameplate capacity of 30,000 tonnes/year, and KH Neochem, which can produce 15,000 tonnes of MIBK annually.
