LONDON (ICIS)--SIBUR has started trial production of the first polypropylene (PP) line at its polymer complex in Tobolsk, the Russia-based producer said on Tuesday.
The PP plant in Tobolsk has the capacity to produce 500,000 tonnes/year. It will be the biggest in Russia and consists of two 250,000 tonne/year lines.
The company added it has begun integrated equipment testing at the propylene storage facility in the same location.
“This follows testing of the first production line at the extrusion plant and the polypropylene packaging and dispatch plant,” SIBUR said.
The company added that over the course of the next few months it will continue commissioning operations across all production facilities and expects to begin production at the complex by the end of 2013, once all approvals have been granted.
