SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Ningbo Heyuan is currently running its methanol-based 500,000 tonne/year monethylene glycol (MEG) unit in Zhejiang province at full capacity, a company source said on Wednesday.

Daily production is about 1,500 tonnes, the source said.

Commercial sales from the plant, the company’s first methanol-based MEG facility, began in end-January following the unit’s start-up on 20 January, the source said.

The plant caters to downstream polyester factories in eastern China.

Ningbo Heyuan procures methanol feedstock for the plant from the domestic and international markets, the company source said.
