Japan's Mitsubishi Plastics acquires Quadrant Engineering Plastics

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Mitsubishi Plastics has acquired Quadrant Engineering Plastics to complement its product lines, the companies said on Wednesday.

With the deal, Quadrant becomes a fully-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Plastics. Financial details were not disclosed. The companies had been in a partnership since 2009.

Quadrant, based in Reading, Pennsylvania, produces high-performance engineering plastics, including ultra-high-molecular-weight (UHMW) polyethylene (PE), nylon (or polyamide), and acetal.

Its products are used for machined parts in food processing and packaging, semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, electronics, chemical processing, life sciences, power generation and other industries.
