MOVES: Li Chunguang chosen as new president of Sinopec

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Li Chunguang has been named the new president of Chinese energy giant Sinopec, the company announced on Wednesday.

Li, 57, will replace Wang Tianpu, who was appointed president in 2005.

Li’s term as president lasts until May 2015, Sinopec said.

According to Sinopec’s website, Li was appointed in August 1991 to the role of deputy general manager of Sinopec Sales North China Branch. In October 1995, he was selected to be deputy general manager of Sinopec Sales, and he moved up to general manager of the sales division in June 2001.

Later Li served as director general of oil product sales for Sinopec, chairman of the board of directors and general manager of Sinopec Sales, vice president of Sinopec and vice president of China Petrochemical.

In May 2009, Li was elected to Sinopec’s board of directors.
