US jet fuel consumption falls by 4.4%, inventories up 0.3%

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US jet fuel consumption rates fell for the week ended 24 May, causing a gain in inventories, a government agency’s report showed on Thursday.

Jet fuel consumption rates fell by 64,000 bbl/day to 1.381m bbl/day, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.

Accordingly, stockpiles of the product increased by 100,000 bbl to 38.7m bbl that same week.

Production rates fell by 56,000 bbl/day to 1.460m bbl/day, while imports were slightly up by 11,000 bbl/day to 46,000 bbl/day.

Meanwhile, refinery utilisation rates fell by 0.9 percentage points to 86.4%.
