SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Kingboard Chemical plans to shut its phenol/acetone plant at Huizhou city, Guangdong province, for maintenance on 1 June, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant, which has a capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, is running at a reduced rate because of mechanical problems, the source said. However, further details were not immediately available.

The plant’s restart date has yet to be confirmed, according to the source.
