Ammonia leakage at China poultry plant kills over 113

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--At least 113 people were killed in an explosion caused by ammonia leakage at a poultry processing plant in China’s Jilin province on Monday morning, media reports said.

The blast happened at around 7:03 local time (23:03 GMT) at the plant owned by Baoyuanfeng Poultry at Mishazi town of Dehui city in Jilin. The fire lasted over five hours, Xinhua reported.

The death toll may rise further as rescue works continue, according to Xinhua.

Company sources could not be reached for comments.
