HOUSTON (ICIS)--Foster Wheeler has acquired Mexico’s NorthAm Engineering for an undisclosed sum, the Switzerland-based energy and petrochemicals engineering major said on Tuesday.

NorthAm is one of the largest Mexican engineering and project management companies, with a focus on upstream, offshore and onshore, downstream and power projects, Foster Wheeler said.

Privately owned NorthAm is based in Monterrey and has about 400 staff.

“With NorthAm’s excellent reputation and strong relationships with key Mexican clients, this acquisition significantly strengthens our position in the growing Mexican market,” Foster Wheeler CEO Kent Masters said.

“In addition, it provides an excellent platform from which to further expand our business in the wider Latin American market,” Masters said.
