COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (ICIS)--Start-up of LyondellBasell’s expanded butadiene (BD) capacity at its extraction unit in Wesseling, Germany, is “literally days away”, the CEO of the Netherlands-based company said on Tuesday.

“There are moments of brightness,” he said at the ACC’s annual meeting.
Nameplate capacity at the Wesseling BD plant has been announced by the company to increase by 40% to 238,000 tonnes/year.
Earlier this year, Lyondell said it would invest $1.6bn (€1.2bn) in growth capital expenditures from 2013-2016, including projects in North American ethylene capacity and derivatives, a methanol restart in the US and the BD expansion in Germany.
