US jet fuel consumption up 7.7%, inventories gain 1%

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Both US jet fuel consumption rates and inventories for the week ended 31 May were higher, a government agency’s report showed on Wednesday.

Jet fuel consumption rates were 107,000 bbl/day higher at 1.488m bbl/day, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.

Stockpiles of the product gained 400,000 bbl to 39.1m bbl that same week.

Production rates were also up, increasing by 57,000 bbl/day to 1.517m bbl/day, while imports were up by 90,000 bbl/day to 136,000 bbl/day.

Meanwhile, refinery utilisation rates gained 2 percentage points to 88.4%.
