SINGAPORE(ICIS)--China’s Jilin Petrochemical is keeping the operating rates of its No 2 106,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) unit in Jilin province at 80% capacity following its restart in early June, a company source said on Thursday.

The No 2 ACN unit in Jilin city was restarted on 2 June, after the company completed maintenance for it, the source added. The unit was shut in the evening of 1 May because of mechanical issues.

The ACN plant was operating at 80% capacity before it was shut down, the source said.

Jilin Petrochemical is also operating its No 3 and No 4 units with capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year each at 80% capacity after maintenance was completed on 19 April-5 May, the source said.

However, its 106,000 tonne/year No 1 ACN unit remains off line, the source said, without disclosing further details.

According to market sources, the restart of the three ACN units has limited impact on the domestic spot market, because of the current weak demand.
