US April EPS exports rose by 26% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of expandable polystyrene (EPS) for April were up by 26% from the same month in 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Thursday.

US EPS exports rose to 7,329 tonnes in April 2013 from 5,822 tonnes in the same month of 2012.

Mexico, Canada and Hong Kong were the top destinations for US exports, with Mexico and and Hong Kong taking slightly more material than in 2012 and Canada taking slightly less.  

US EPS imports rose by 15% in April to 17,501 tonnes, up from 15,203 tonnes in 2012.

The Bahamas, Canada and Mexico were the top importers into the US.

Major North American EPS producers are BASF, Nova Chemicals, Flint Hills Resources, Styrochem and Nexkemia.
