US EG exports decline 32% year on year in April

NEW YORK (ICIS)--April US exports for ethylene glycol (EG) declined 32% year on year, according to trade data made available on Thursday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

EG US exports were down 10,509 tonnes to 22,087 tonnes in April from 32,596 tonnes in the same month last year.

On a month on month basis, exports fell 10% or 2,441 tonnes from 24,528 tonnes in March to 22,087 tonnes in April.

Meanwhile, EG March US imports were mostly flat year on year, totalling 97,575 tonnes in April 2013 compared with 97,719 tonnes in the same month last year.

Month on month imports, however, increased 39% or 27,144 tonnes from 70,431 tonnes in March to 97,575 tonnes in April, according to the ITC.

Major EG producers in the US include BASF, Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical, Formosa Plastics, Huntsman, Indorama, LyondellBasell and Shell Chemical.
