HOUSTON (ICIS)--Arizona fertilizer producer Passport Potash announced on Thursday it has hired Michael Schlumpberger as the company’s chief operating officer.
A veteran mining engineer, Schlumpberger comes to the company from PotashCorp, where he has served for over 21 years in various roles, including operations manager and mine general superintendent.
Passport said Schlumpberger's first duties will include the production of a pre-feasibility report for the company’s exploration of potash mining in Arizona, which is expected to be released in Q1 2014.
"It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on bringing a potential new potash mine into production, and I am thrilled to become a part of this project," said Schlumpberger.
Prior to PotashCorp, Schlumpberger was an engineer with the US Bureau of Mines and a production supervisor for Unimin.
