Japan's ethylene production increases 13% in May

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of ethylene rose by 13% year on year to 554,200 tonnes in May, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed on Monday.

This is a 1.4% increase from the previous month, according to the METI.

One naphtha cracker was shut for scheduled maintenance in May, while two crackers were shut for turnarounds in the same period a year earlier, based on the data.

No crackers were shut for turnarounds in April, according to the ministry.
