US jet fuel inventories gain 4.3% as consumption drops 17%

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US jet fuel inventories increased for the week ended 7 May as consumption rates fell, a government agency’s report showed on Wednesday.

Jet fuel stockpiles were 1.7m bbl higher at 40.8m bbl, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.

Accordingly, consumption rates of the product dropped by 253,000 bbl/day to 1.235m bbl/day that same week.

Production rates were 0.9% lower at 1.504m bbl/day, while imports dropped by 60,000 bbl/day to 76,000 bbl/day.

Meanwhile, refinery utilisation rates fell by 0.9 percentage points to 87.5%.
