LONDON (ICIS)--The ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE) premium over methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) edged up this week, indicating improving levels of demand in Europe, sources said on Thursday.
The ETBE premium is now at $70-130/tonne (€53-98/tonne), an increase of $10/tonne from last week.
“I am seeing more interest in the Mediterranean and eastern Europe,” one producer said.
The producer remains hopeful for a further increase in the premium as a result.
Although the ETBE premium edged up, outright prices declined from last week owing to lower MTBE trades this week.
The average of MTBE trades this week is $1,095/tonne FOB AR, down by $11/tonne from last week.
