HOUSTON (ICIS)--Air Liquide signed a long-term contract with LyondellBasell, in which the France-based industrial gas producer will supply steam, power, gas and water to the company's plants in Pasadena, Texas, the companies said on Monday.
Under the agreement, Air Liquide will expand the capacity and extend the life of a cogeneration unit, the company said. The unit will have a capacity of 300MW and 1,300 tonnes/hour of steam.
Air Liquide will also upgrade and expand its air separation unit, it said. It did not provide details about the expansion.
Altogether, Air Liquide plans to spend €180m ($240m), the company said.
The additional capacity will supply three sites that LyondellBasell has in the Bayport Industrial District in Pasadena, Air Liquide said. The capacity will also serve other companies in the region.
“We want to thank the LyondellBasell Group for its continued trust in Air Liquide as its supplier of choice," according to a statement by Michael Graff, Air Liquide senior vice president.
"With this investment, Air Liquide further demonstrates its capacity to meet the growing needs of long-term customers and the rising demands of major industrial hubs around the world with highly reliable products and services delivered with world class safety and efficiency," he said.
