China May PE, PP imports rise 11.6% month on month, say traders

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China is estimated to have imported 1.09m tonnes of combined polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) in May, up by 11.6% from the previous month, local traders said on Tuesday.

Some 698,000 tonnes of PE and 391,000 tonnes of PP were brought into the country last month, they said.

Compared with the official data for April imports, May 2013 PE imports increased by 11.29%, while PP imports were up by 12.29%, traders said.

China Customs' data on May imports will be released on around 24 June.
