SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Epichlorohydrin (ECH) imports to the EU from the rest of the world increased five-fold in March 2013 compared with March 2012, data by Eurostat showed on Tuesday.

However, imports dropped by 87% in March 2013 compared with February 2013.

Exports from the EU to the rest of the world were down by 25% in March 2013 compared with March 2012, but were up 214% in March 2013 compared with the previous month.

During March, ECH supply was short because of maintenance shutdowns but at the same time demand did not decrease, which created tightness in the market.
