HOUSTON (ICIS)--The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled in favour of SI Group in a trade dispute against Chinese firms over the alleged violation of trade secrets, the US-based producer of phenolic resins, alkylphenolic resins, alkylated phenols and other chemical intermediates said on Tuesday.

SI Group said that the ITC ruled that Chinese firms Sino Legend and Red Avenue had misappropriated its trade secrets related to the production of rubber resins.

Following the ruling, SI now expects that the commission will prohibit Sino Legend and Red Avenue from importing the affected products into the US, it said.

In an ITC complaint it filed last year SI had alleged that Sino Legend colluded with a plant manger from SI’s Shanghai plant in misappropriating the secrets.

SI Group added that it had failed to win a China-based lawsuit against Sino Legend.

Sino Legend and Red Avenue were unavailable for immediate comment.

The ITC is a US federal agency that investigates international trade matters and rules on unfair trade practices.
