HOUSTON (ICIS)--Canadian potash developer Gensource Capital announced on Thursday that it has appointed veteran mining engineer Mike Ferguson as CEO.
Based in Saskatchewan, Gensource develops resource opportunities with a focus on potash development and operates the subsidiary company Gensource Potash.
“Mike has a proven track record of successful potash project development and excellent management skills. He is a great asset to our company,” said Alan Cruickshank, Gensource president.
As an engineer, Ferguson has more than 25 years of experience in potash and uranium mining projects in Canada. Prior to his new role, he headed the Potash One operation, which developed the Legacy Project in Saskatchewan before it was acquired by international fertilizer producer K+S Group of Germany. Ferguson was also the lead in developing the first greenfield potash property in the province in more than 40 years.
“With a newly focused board of directors, a management team uniquely qualified for project development in Saskatchewan, and a clear and forward-looking strategy towards potash production, the company is poised for significant growth and success," Ferguson said. "I am proud to be part of such a team in this exciting phase of change in the global potash industry."
