SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Kingboard Chemical is running its phenol/acetone plant at Huizhou city in the southern Guangdong province at full capacity, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant, which has a capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, resumed operations on 16 June after it was shut on 1 June for maintenance, the sources said.

Phenol and acetone spot prices remained under downward pressure from weak demand and ample supply, market sources said. This was despite the mounting cost pressure phenol/acetone makers are facing, they added.
