SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s Optimal Chemicals plans to shut its 140,000 tonne/year n-butanol (NBA)/iso-butanol (IBA) plant at Kerteh in Terrangganu for a major overhaul in September, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The plant will be shut for roughly two months, the source said.
“This will be a major overhaul, which takes place every once in five years,” the source added.
Sales volumes in the preceding months will likely be lowered, as the company needs to stock up ahead of the shutdown, according to the source.
The oxo-alcohols unit is currently operating at 100%, the source added.
