China May PE, PP imports grow 11.6% from April; up 17.2% yr on yr

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) imports in May totalled 1.09m tonnes, up by 11.6% from the previous month, official data showed on Monday.

Compared with the same period last year, May’s PP and PE import volumes were up by 17.2 %, according to China Customs data.

Accounting for about 36% of the total are PP imports at 390,700 tonnes in May – up by 12.2% month on month and also up 11.9%  year on year.

PE accounted for the bulk of the total May imports at 698,100 tonnes, up 11.3% from the previous month and 20.3% higher compared with the same period last year.
