MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said on Monday that 135m gal (511m litres) of biodiesel was produced in May.
Biodiesel production has exceeded targets under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) for two consecutive years, and the May figures put the industry on target to once again exceed annual volume requirements, according to the National Biodiesel Board (NBB).
With the May numbers, year-to-date biodiesel production stands at just less than 504m gal.
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel, produced from renewable resources. The most commonly used feedstocks are rapeseed, soy and palm oil.
