SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Wison Engineering said on Tuesday that it has secured a yuan (CNY) 1.05bn ($171m) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 300,000 tonne/year methanol-to-olefins (MTO) plant from Shandong Yangmei Hengtong Chemical.
Construction of the project at Linyi in Shandong province is expected to start in the second quarter of 2013, and is due to be completed late next year, Wison said in a statement.
The MTO plant will provide ethylene and propylene feedstocks for Hengtong Chemical’s downstream facilities, including a 300,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and a 200,000 tonne/year propylene oxide (PO) units.
Honeywell's UOP process technology was selected for olefin conversion in the project.
