MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Zhenjiang LCY General Chemical plans to restart its 24,000 tonne/year methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant in Jiangsu province in late June after completing maintenance at the unit, sources close to the company said on Tuesday.
The producer has brought forward its scheduled overhaul because MIBK makers’ margins remain compressed by the high volume of spot imports, the sources said.
Zhenjiang LCY shut its MIBK plant during the week of 10 June, instead of late July as initially planned, the sources added.
The company is a unit of Taiwan’s LCY Group, which also operates a 20,000 tonne/year MIBK plant in Linyuan in Taiwan.
