HOUSTON (ICIS)--With June drawing to a close this week, US benzene spot prices have shifted to July delivery as prompt timing, according to market participants on Wednesday.
There have been no June benzene price discussions during the week, with discussions mostly heard for July.
Despite the shift to July benzene spot prices, the market remained in contango with August.
Current July benzene spot prices were discussed at $4.05-4.16/gal FOB (free on board), while August benzene prices discussions were slightly higher at $4.08-4.18/gal FOB.
Although the market remains in contango, market participants maintain that supply positions in the US are still long, and have been long since the start of the year.
