HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propane inventories rose by 3.3% last week, even as consumption spiked by 38%, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

Propane supplies surged to 54.6m bbls for the week ending 21 June, up from 53.1m bbls the prior week.

Consumption rose to 972,000 bbls/day, up from 704,000 bbls/day the previous week.

Propane stocks are expected to remain long as a result from nonstop production in shale gas formations.

Propane exports rose to 216,000 bbls/day, up from 213,000 bbls/day a week earlier.
