HOUSTON (ICIS)--Chinese resins producer Sino Legend is disappointed with an adverse US ruling in a trade dispute and will seek to petition the ruling, it said in statement issued on Wednesday.

Sino Legend was reacting to an US International Trade Commission (ITC) ruling from last week that found that Sino Legend and another firm had misappropriated trade secrets owned by US-based chemicals intermediates producer SI Group. The secrets relate to the production of rubber resins.

"While we are disappointed with the ITC administrative law judge’s initial ruling, we will continue to conduct ourselves in the highly professional and ethical manner that the ITC, our customers, our partners and the industry have come to expect, and which they deserve," Sino Legend general manager Corey Xie said.

"We will petition the ruling per established procedures, fully respecting the legal system’s honour and authority," Xie said.

Sino Legend added that a court in Shanghai recently ruled in favour of Sino Legend in a trade secrets infringement and patent case brought SI Group.

Sino Legend is described as Asia's largest producer of resins for the tyre and rubber industries.

The ITC is a US federal agency that investigates international trade matters and rules on unfair trade practices.
