HOUSTON (ICIS)--US July methanol contracts rolled over on Thursday with Methanex’s repeat of its previous monthly posting at 160 cents/gal.
Southern Chemical Corp (SCC) repeated its May posting earlier this week, issuing 162 cents/gal.
US methanol contracts have tended to roll over in July during the past five years. Methanex has repeated its June posting in July three times, and SCC four times.
US methanol spot barge prices on Thursday, at 139-140 cents/gal, remained within a range that has held for most of June.
Methanol spot barge prices for the past year have held at roughly 19-21 cents/gal below contract postings.
But the current spot range represents a slightly higher discount, at 21.5 cents/gal below the contract average, or about a 13% markdown.
