HOUSTON (ICIS)--US renewable chemicals producer Myriant announced on Tuesday that company founder Stephen Gatto has resigned as CEO but will continue to serve on the board of directors.
Myriant chief operating officer Cenan Ozmeral has been named president and will continue to integrate commercial operations for the company.
“The time has come to pass the reins as the company transitions to a fully-integrated operating business to allow me more time to focus on strategy as a member of the board,” Gatto said.
“I believe that the next era in the company’s evolution will be its greatest, and I have full confidence in Cenan and rest of the Myriant team to continue to execute against our plan and achieve great success on the path to commercialisation.”
Ozmeral joined Myriant in November 2008 after a 29-year career at BASF, where he served in various management positions, such as leading the acrylic dispersions and XSB latex operations in the NAFTA region and overseeing BASF’s investments in the steam cracker and butadiene extraction unit in Port Arthur, Texas.
