LONDON (ICIS)--A tender for urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) in Damietta, Egypt, has been postponed as a result of political unrest in the country, according to a shipping source on Tuesday.

“Due to present serious civil commotion in Egypt, the tender which was due to close today afternoon has been postponed until further notice,” the source said.

The UAN plant is located in Abu Qir, between 40-50 miles (64-80km) east of Damietta, according to the source. Tank trucks have been running from Abu Qir to a storage installation in Damietta, next to a jetty where tankers are berthed.

“I think that the supply chain by tank trucks from Abu Qir to Damietta is interrupted,” the source said.
