SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Nissan Chemical Industries shut its 50,000 tonne/year melamine plant in Toyama prefecture for annual maintenance at the end of June, a company source said on Wednesday.

“The plant was already shut down as scheduled, and the shutdown period will last for around 40 days,” the source said.

There is no big impact on its contract customers as the producer built stocks prior to the shutdown, the source added.

The plant was running at around 80% capacity before the shutdown, according to the source.
