LONDON (ICIS)--Germany-based BASF will expand and modernise the phenolic resin production facility at its Ludwigshafen Verbund site, the chemicals major said on Thursday.
The company will increase its phenolic resin capacity by 50%, it said, with a second production line being built and scheduled to start operation in 2014.
BASF’s produces phenolic resin under its Koresin brand. Detailed capacity and financial information regarding the project was not disclosed.
“We are modernising and expanding our Koresin facility to meet our customers’ increasing demand also in the future,” said Axel Kistenmacher, business manager rubber intermediates, BASF Intermediates division.
“We are additionally improving supply reliability by setting up a second production line,” he added.
