LONDON (ICIS)--Egypt-based EIPET will have commercial polyethylene terephthalate (PET) available to the market at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2013 from its new plant in Ain Sokhna, a market source said on Thursday.
"At this time, we expect the Egyptian plant to startup in September of this year … We expect the commercial product to be available by the beginning of Q4," the source said in an email.
The facility has two lines of 210,000 tonnes/year each and was originally due online in March/April, but start-up was delayed. In May, the plant was scheduled to be up and running in July, with commercial product available by August.
EIPET is a joint venture of India's Dhunseri Petrochem and Tea and two Egyptian state-owned companies, Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding and Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries.
