LONDON (ICIS)--Switzerland-headquartered INEOS Nitriles’ 280,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at Seal Sands in the UK is operating at normal rates after experiencing production problems following planned maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
The issues were resolved early this week and on-spec ACN was being produced on Monday, the source said.
"In terms of inventory we have absolutely nothing – zero inventory," the source said, adding that all material produced was being loaded immediately.
The company source estimated last week that several thousand tonnes of ACN had been lost to the market.
Early this week, INEOS also restarted a train at its 300,000 tonne/year plant at Cologne, Germany, that had been down for planned maintenance, the source said.
