SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Dezhou Detian Chemical is operating its 50,000 tonne/year acetone-based isopropanol (IPA) unit in Shandong province at 70% of capacity, after resuming operations on 1 July, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The facility was shut for more than two months and market sources said the production halt was likely caused by weak margins.
Domestic prices in China remained under pressure from ample supply and low demand.
Prices in east China were at yuan (CNY) 9,200-9,250/tonne ($1,500.82-1,508.97) ex-tank on 5 July, down by CNY100/tonne from the previous week, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
