HOUSTON (ICIS)--FMC has acquired exclusive rights from Germany-based Bayer CropScience to a patented, broad-spectrum crop protection product that it plans to develop and distribute for row crops in North America, the US producer announced on Monday.

The development and registration process will begin in 2014, with the product’s launch to occur in the following two to three years, US-based FMC said in a news release.

Financial terms of the acquisition as well as additional information on the product were not disclosed.

"This agreement to develop and market this promising new product highlights the increasing collaboration between FMC and Bayer CropScience and the success both companies have created in bringing new crop protection technologies to growers," said Mark Douglas, president of FMC’s Agricultural Solutions division.
